1. Cliff Railway to Castle - 1.5 miles / 2.4 kms
Starting at the longest electric cliff railway in Britain, built at the end of the 19th century, you head immediately to the sweeping promenade with its tall Victorian and Edwardian buildings. Walk by the sea for a while, then inland, before returning once again to the sandy front. Next get a taste of historic streets, before circling an impressive church and onward to Aberystwyth castle – no longer complete, but still standing proud.
1.5 hoursOK but diversion maybe needed
2. Castle to Royal Pier - 1 mile / 1.6 kms
From the Gorsedd Stones of Aberystwyth’s Eisteddfod, past a tall memorial, you next walk beside the sea until passing in front of the first university building. Walk along fascinating, historical streets, before arriving at the promenade, with magnificent views to the Bay of Cardigan, and Snowdon in the distance.
End your walk at the Royal Pier – time for an ice cream!
