Explore Marlow town centre with two self-guided heritage walks with a treasure hunt theme. Discover Marlow's "hidden treasures" whilst having a fun day out with family and friends!
Nestled alongside the Thames, Marlow has been voted one of the top places to live. Its remarkable Grade I listed suspension bridge served as the model for a similar structure over the Danube in Budapest. Within Higginson Park, visitors can explore the Millennium Maze and admire a statue commemorating the celebrated hometown hero, Sir Steve Redgrave. Marlow's train service is affectionately dubbed the Marlow Donkey, and Frankenstein's monster was brought to life here – don’t worry the locals are much friendlier these days!

1. The Town - 1.5 miles / 2.4 kms
Whilst the River Thames is undoubtedly a principal feature of Marlow, it is also true to say that the Thames has lured many famous people to live there, many famous organisations to set up home there, and many architects to work there. Walking through the town itself, and ending at a pleasant park by the river, provides an insight into years gone by, when life was gentler, quieter and more measured.

2. Town to Marlow Lock - 1 mile / 1.6 kms
Marlow is a gorgeous Georgian town, standing as it does on a stunning section of the famous River Thames. This walk takes you through an historic churchyard, up an ancient road, on a short section of the pretty town centre, into a delightful Garden, past typical architecture and a leafy road, leading to the town’s lock – bustling in summer, languid in winter, with constant views of the captivating Thames.
