Dating back to the 6th century it is renowned for its 12th century abbey, the fabulous Forbury Gardens, delightful waterways, an impressive Town Hall, fast links to London and a plethora of shops, bars and restaurants. Bustling with people, the shopping streets are always busy, but just a stone's throw away are a number of treasures just waiting to be found.

"I've lived just outside Reading for many years, and always thought it to be rather boring - lots of bland buildings. However, having done your two walks I've now changed my mind - walking alongside rivers and canals, discovering small footpaths which burrow their way around the centre, the delightful Forbury Gardens, an ancient abbey, a fascinating church, and much, much more. Great!"
